Last year, I hearted the gorgeous range of Carly Paiker cuffs, inspired by exotic bohemian 70′s luxe… View them here!

This year, Carly has collaborated with Sportsgirl to release an amazeball 8-piece collection, which I am also officially hearting! Melbourne Girl were excited to quickly catch up with Carly to chat about her fabulous new collection!

Congrats on your collaboration with Sportsgirl! Tell us about your inspiration behind the 8 piece collection…

The collection has a ‘desert oppulence’ theme. I have fused therichness of the shapes and pattern of tribal Native American Indian textiles with vibrancy of colours from the desert and fabricated the collection in only the most luxe materials including exotic snake embossed leathers and faceted hand cut stones. The collection has an unexpected sparkle given the raw nature of my inspiration- much like the girl who wears the Carly Paiker brand. She is a global trotter whose experience with the world allows her to wear her accessorise in only a way that she knows how. She is free spirited, adventurous yet effortlessly elegant… This is the Carly Paiker girl.

What’s your favourite piece and why?

If I had to play favourites, I would have to say the Thick Desert Bangle in Rose Gold. The cut out pattern was taken from a vintage native American rug and it is overlaid over genuine snake embossed leather in a nude colour. I love the combination of the nude leather and the rose gold plating… I seriously haven’t taken it off since I received the sample.

Any other exciting news for Carly Paiker in 2012?

We plan on taking part in Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in April this year to show our next Summer 12/13 collection. Fashion week is always an exciting time for our brand and it’s great benchmark to follow our growth from year to year. We also have lots of exciting plans for our online store… and exclusive online only collections. Available at carlypaiker.com.au

Here are some of the gorgeous pieces:

SABA has had a powerful influence on the Australian fashion scene since 1965. Starting in Melbourne’s Flinders Lane as The Joseph Saba Shirt Shop, the company has remained at the forefront of Australian fashion ever since, and is now seen as a chic, contemporary label for both women and men.

Today, SABA has evolved into one of my favourite fashion labels for both Men and Women. Last month I was lucky enough to head along to the re-launch of their ultra mod flagship store in Collins St and much to my delight, have since been lucky enough to grab an exclusive interview with the SABA design team. Here it is to share with you all!

Tell us a little bit about the members of the SABA design team?

We have a fantastic team of designers, our Head of Design and her team of 4 senior designers and 4 assistants working across womens, mens and accessories. They all have a wealth of international experience creating a dynamic team who are passionate about design and fashion!

The fashion calendar never stops… Which season is the team currently planning/designing and can you share any key secret pieces/trends?

We are all currently busy working on Autumn Winter 12 which is an exciting season leading on from Spring Summer 11 as it is all about colour! Red, oranges and pinks still a big colour trends with exciting introduction of chartreuse and beautiful jewel tones. 6o’s mod and 70 luxe are big trends we are looking at and interpreting in our beautiful SABA way.

What are the current personal inspirations/motivations for the design team?

Colour is the most important trend happening this season and was one of our key inspirations behind SS112. Bright pop colours are a must have this season from maxi dresses, fitted knee length dresses, to suits, tops and jean jeggings. Key picks from our Head of Design from spring summer 11 are the Mars Suit and the hot pink Carlie Pants (due in November). This season is all about bright pink, the perfect fun summer colour.

Enjoy, melbgirl x
