Melbourne Fine Art (MFA) is proud to showcase another exhibition of Parisian glamour and illustrated haute couture through a collection of rare fashion illustrations from the designs of French couturier Jacques Heim, French Fashion Design: Fashion Illustrations from the House of Jacques Heim.
In conjunction to Melbourne Spring Fashion Festival, LOOK.STOP.SHOP, MFA is proud to feature 62 watercolour illustrations of women’s seasonal fashion attributed to Jacques Heim to complement last year’s exhibition, French Fashion and Design: The Art of Fashion Illustration.
Jacques Heim was a couturier and costume designer who specializedin women’s fur coats. He took over his family’s fur business in 1930 and initiated a line of coats, evening wear, young women’s fashion, and women’s suits. Leading Heim’s innovation was his realisation that fur could be worked as a fabric which became the hallmark of his label.
