Last Friday, I kicked off the Melbourne Girl BLOGGER STYLE SERIES.
(In case you missed the first post on Jess Dempsey, you can check it out here!)
Our second post stars the lovely Sarah Kempson from sarahsstyleemporium.onsugar.com – we caught up with Sarah to chat about her style and all things blogging! Check out the interview and some of her gorgeous photos below:
Please tell us about yourself and when you started blogging >
I started blogging in 2009, while working in a job that wasn’t challenging me. I needed a creative outlet and when I discovered twitter, and the wealth of information and blogs that it led to, I decided I wanted to start my own blog. Originally it was going to be about my two passions – food and fashion, but the food kinda fell away and the blog became more of a fashion and lifestyle space. For the past three years, I have worked full time in Marketing and Communications, and worked on my blog as a side project. More recently, I have left my ‘day’ job to focus on freelance writing and social media community management which in turn leads to more time for the blog.
How would you describe your style>
I think style is a little bit of everything, but ultimately very, very girly. I love full skirts, pastels and heels – and nothing beats an amazing dress. In Winter I wear skirts with tights, blazers and boots, mostly in the Melbourne staple shade of black. In Spring and Summer I love to break out the florals and colours – anything goes!
Who inspires your wardrobe and why >
I have to say the blogging friends I have made over the past three years are a massive source of inspiration. Celeb looks change from one week to the next, and even brands that move with trends can have a completely different aesthetic each season. The thing I love about bloggers and their personal style is that we are all different and unique in what we wear, but the consistency is there.
3 must-have items for Spring/Summer >
Neon, Neon, Neon!! This is my FAVE trend at the moment, and anything goes. I have a satchel bag, necklace and am looking into tee shirts at the moment. Can’t get enough. Pastels might be the complete opposite but it you can find it in mint green, buy it immediately. Think feminine shapes. Peplums A peplum on a top, skirt or dress oozes sophistication (and lets you enjoy your dinner!)
Who are your favorite Aussie and International designers >
My fave in Australia is Cue – their designs are amazing and always on trend but have the ability to last for years and years without dating. For fun and fabulous, you can’t go past Sass & Bide. Internationally I love ASOS for cheap and cheerful, and Michael Kors for accessories.
The big guns I love are Chloe and Stella McCartney. Effortless and chic.
A big thanks to Sarah for her time chatting to melbgirl x
