MELBOURNE: SPENCERLACY’s Style Lab Launch

Posted by: Laura    Tags:  Fitzroy, launch, MELBOURNE, shopping, SpencerLacy, Style Lab    Posted date:  June 18, 2012  |  Comment

SPENCERLACY have officially launched their new concept store Style Lab. And as the name depicts, the media launch party was an eclectic mix of stylish goodies!

SPENCERLACY have designed their store to be a full sensory experience, and the launch had elements to reflect each of the five senses.

To start with, no good party lacks music. The ‘sound’ element was provided by DJ Lauren Mac. She mixed a track specifically for SPENCERLACY, and it is fantastic. Groovy tunes that set off the aesthetic of the store beautifully.

The second astounding ingredient that tickled my taste sense was the food. Meringues made out of liquid nitrogen? Who has heard of such a creation? Yet Daniel Dobra from The Aylesbury managed to provide them, not to mention the yummy cucumber spheres with tzatziki and breadcrumbs.

Plain & Simple provided the ‘smell’ element. There was a collection of their lush candles burning, and the store has a faint smell of their beautiful soaps anyway. The candles also added to the general ambience of the store, which served to highlight the elegant vintage furniture by Izzi and Popo that outfits Style Lab. (Leading us to sight!)

If you were wondering where the mounted dear head watching over the party came from, it was from them. A deer head is not something you would usually expect to see in such a boutique store, but it really fits the concept! SPENCERLACY have managed to mix the five elements to create a truly unique shopping experience.

The best experience is, of course, touch. SPENCERLACY have some beautiful garments available – but beware of touching them! You will be induced to buy because they are so lovely. I was fascinated by the variety of textures and colours. I’m a big fan of over-sized knit ware over leggings in winter (stylish yet warm enough to keep out Melbourne’s cold!), and the Style Lab had some beautiful varieties of each. I wouldn’t mind wrapping myself up in one of their giant scarves either…

The jewellery by Liberte had a bold yet classy feel. There are some seriously signature pieces in that collection! You could build a whole outfit around a pair of their earrings.

It was all a very intriguing experience. But SPENCERLACY have definitely made Style Lab a delightful sensory experience, whether it be a terrarium or silk dress you were after.
